'Save Our Solar' campaign to last 12 more hours

After just 36 hours, ClickGreen's weekend-long 'Save Our Solar' (SOS) campaign has now received more than 3,000 messages calling on the Government to push back its proposed December 8 deadline for a 50% cut in solar PV Feed-in Tariff rates, as leaked on Friday.

All the emails received have now been forwarded directly through to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and Government Ministers ahead of tomorrow's expected statement to Parliament.

With 12 hours to go, the clock is ticking for those who have not yet voiced their opposition but messages will continue to be passed on until tomorrow's announcement.

Over 1,500 messages have been left on the ClickGreen website and these too are being forwarded through.

An equal split of consumers and suppliers have contacted the 'SOS' campaign to oppose the planned changes, which were leaked on the Energy Saving Trust website on Friday.

But the blunder has provided a unique two-day window for the industry and consumers to come together to make their voices heard over this weekend.

Proposals for a 50% reduction in UK solar PV Feed-in Tariffs, to come into effect from December 8 this year, are expected to be announced tomorrow.

If you want to add weight to the argument for pushing back the proposed December 8 cut-off date, please email ClickGreen's Save Our Solar campaign at sos@clickgreen.org.uk, tweet a message to us on Twitter@greensourcenews, leave a note on our ClickGreen Facebook page or simply leave a comment below.

There is now one day left to voice your strong opinion and help influence Monday's announcement.

Leave feed in tariff alone until April 2012 then make changes but not so severe as it will kill a fledgling business give us time to adjust
A lawrance, Derby around 6 months, 3 weeks ago
No ammount of pressure or lobbying will reverse this decision. It should be obvious the power companies have forged a deal

David Staddon, Bournemouth around 6 months, 3 weeks ago
The government should have restricted the FIT to homeowners and capped at 4kw. Now we all lose out. This is a very short sighted decision
Lynne H, Southampton around 6 months, 3 weeks ago
To cut the FIT by 50% does not make sense. A sensible adjustment of between 5% and 10% to allow for lower costing pv panels should be made
David Clark, Northants around 6 months, 3 weeks ago
agree with Jamie and so many others - cap at a residential rate, keep the FIT as is for smaller private installations. Give installers time!
Andrew X, Worcester around 6 months, 3 weeks ago
Just spent thousands in training and setting up a pv company all about as much use now as a light bulb in a power cut and thats what we have
