After receiving over 4,000 messages in just two days, ClickGreen is to extend its 48-hour 'Save Our Solar' (SOS) campaign to now last the duration of the Government's consultation period of solar PV and Feed-in Tariffs.
ClickGreen had received 4,124 messages up to 9.30am today in strong opposition to the planned 50% reduction to UK solar PV payments from early December.
Following this morning's confirmation of a December 12 cut-off point, ClickGreen will continue to accept messages to forward through to the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Government ministers.
In addition, we will keep a daily tally of the widely anticipated job losses from the renewable energy industry and a running total of number of cancelled installations from consumers.
The Government consultation will end on December 23.
An equal split of consumers and suppliers initially contacted the 'SOS' campaign over the weekend to oppose the planned changes.
The details were leaked on Friday but despite this unique two-day window for the industry and consumers to come together to make their voices heard – their strong opinion fell on deaf ears.
The proposals for a 50% cut from December were confirmed in a statement by DECC this morning.
If you want to add weight to the argument for pushing back the proposed December 12 cut-off date, please email ClickGreen's Save Our Solar campaign at sos@clickgreen.org.uk, tweet a message to us on Twitter@greensourcenews, leave a note on our ClickGreen Facebook page or simply leave a comment below.
