WEMSinternational – the world’s only manufacturer and installer of complete wireless building energy management systems – has appointed a new CEO with a history of innovation, excellence and commercial success, to spearhead international growth.
Paul Summers has joined the Stockport-based company from Quiet Revolution, a UK-based wind turbine manufacturer, where he restructured the business to create growth, while securing a major distribution deal with a Chinese manufacturer.
Prior to this, he was CEO of Turbo Power Systems PLC, a £10m supplier of power electronics, motors and generators to the energy, industrial, transport and defence sectors.
Summers new role will see him spearheading the next phase of development for WEMS and focusing on organic growth and overseas markets. This follows the £13 million private equity investment deal involving WHEB Partners and Hermes GPE, which was announced in September.
He said: “I’m very excited to be joining WEMSinternational at a time of such significant expansion. The company has grown considerably since 2009, due to the pioneering nature of its products, which generate substantial cost savings and considerably reduce CO2 emissions.
“The business is in an incredibly strong position as we head into 2013. Our focus will be on encouraging more businesses than ever to adopt our technology, investing in further research and development and growing our overseas presence.”
Chief Technical Officer and co-founder of WEMSinternational, Joe Blower, said: “Paul has a proven track record of delivering exceptional results. Coupled with his in-depth technical knowledge and a history of innovation, he is the ideal candidate to propel the business forward.”
This year has been a key 12-months for WEMSinternational – in addition to significant private equity investment, it also entered the prestigious Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 for the first time at number 61 and was a finalist at both the National Business Awards and Green Business Awards.
Launched in 1990, it has built up an unrivalled reputation for being the only company to manufacture and install wireless building energy management systems (BEMS) for high-profile clients including BT, Marks & Spencer, Rank, Boots and Fitness First.
