Fears over the UK’s ability to generate sufficient electricity over the next 10 years were highlighted in the energy regulator Ofgem’s recent Project Discovery consultation. According to Ofgem, the shrinking capacity of the UK electricity market means that we not only face the prospect of insufficient supply to meet demand but energy prices rising by up to 25% by 2020 – and spiking even higher in the interim.
The only way business customers are going to be able to keep their energy bills down will be to dramatically cut their usage, says the regulator, which is why the launch of a new electricity-saving device known as the imop is sparking so much interest across all industry sectors.
Already proven to reduce electricity bills by as much as 25%, the imop comes with the added advantage of lowering carbon emissions. When attached to an electrical motor, the imop also makes it run more efficiently – prolonging the life of the equipment and so reducing maintenance costs.
Introduced by minimise Ltd., the imop is an innovative device designed to optimise energy consumption in industrial and commercial environments. It can be used on pumps, motors, heaters, fluorescent lighting – anything that consumes electricity – and works by increasing the efficiency of inductive loads.
This is made possible thanks to a unique ‘sizing kit’, which instantly selects the right size of imop required to make the inductive load work at its most efficient. More than five years in development, the sizing kit is the key to the success of the imop system and the reason it has no competitors. Without it, the costs associated with defining the inductive load requirements would be too great to be economically viable. Devices are quickly and easily installed, and energy savings can be demonstrated at survey stage for complete customer confidence.

Independent verification of the company’s claims also come from the European Union’s Environmental Technologies Verification scheme (Tritech ETV). This new programme for validating the performance of green-based technologies is funded by the EU’s Life Environment Programme. It has also given certification to the imop, enabling customer confidence in the performance of this product range.
