A new iPhone application has been launched that allows users to plant and raise their own
virtual trees from the palm of their hand.
Using the deviceʼs full touchscreen, users can select a country in the world to plant their virtual trees in, select which kind of trees theyʼd like to plant as well as giving each of their trees a name.
The virtual tree then grows everyday depending on how much water is given to it using the innovative Virtual Watering Can that lets users tilt their iPhone or iPod like a watering can to nurture their tree.
Users can also buy extra boosters for their trees through the Virtual Garden Centre, such as Multi-purpose Compost, Weed Killer and a Sapling Stake to help them grow better and rise up through the World Rankings.
The free Raise A Tree 'app' follows on from the successful educational/environmental Raise A Tree website that continues to help teach primary school pupils around the globe about trees, the environment and climate change.
Raise A Tree Founder Andy Stephenson, explained: “The idea was born when we realised there were so many non-teachers and pupils registering on the educational website - we realised that if there was so much buzz around it, why not create a different version that people can use anywhere!
“So far, we've had a great response with over 1,000 downloads of the application in just one week,”
The Raise A Tree iPhone and iPod Touch Application is available through iTunes.
