A North West manufacturing firm has launched one of the UK’s most eco friendly lights.
Morgan Hope has developed a new lighting range, Caprice, which could cut lighting energy costs by 90%.
Accredited by the Carbon Trust and ICEL-approved, Caprice uses Morgan Hope’s new movement control, dimmable system, an innovative technology which is both economical and environmentally friendly.
When the system detects movement in an area it switches the lights onto 100% output but once the space is empty for longer than five minutes the lights dim to 50% output, then to a hibernation state of only 10% output after a further two minutes.
John Murray, Sales Director at Morgan Hope said: “Our new movement control, dimmable system can be used in any lighting range and gives light when you need it and where you need it. It is hugely effective in the Caprice system and can help cut annual running costs by up to £40 per light fitting, with the added benefit that it will also reduce a building’s carbon footprint.”
The Caprice lighting system is being installed for some major UK businesses, including NHS trusts and leading housing associations such as Regenda.
John said: “The Caprice range and our new movement control system has been in demand by organisations such as the NHS as it is ideal for use in public spaces and stairwells where for health and safety reasons, lights need to be on 24/7.
"Caprice in its hibernation state of 10% still providers low level, background safety light and as soon as movement is detected, the lights will go straight up to 100% output.”
Gary Rostron, Building Services Manager for Regenda housing association said: “The new lighting system not only provides a nicer environment it will help save residents money, reducing their service charge costs. In fact the system gives a three way saving, it will lower our carbon footprint, cut energy costs and because of its low maintenance nature, reduce the money and time spent on maintaining the lighting in the building.”
Campbell Electrics installed the lights in the four buildings. Peter Campbell Director at the firm said: “We’ve been working with this system for a while now and it will really have a dramatic impact on the energy costs for the Regenda buildings. There probably isn’t a more efficient system lighting system on the market.”
