Increasing fuel costs and recent Government incentives offering substantial financial incentives for anyone interested in generating their own energy have brought the topic of energy to the forefront of everyone’s mind.
Many predict a ‘gold rush’ for businesses that are offering a whole raft of technologies customers may install to reap the financial benefits. Amongst this flurry of activity it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain a concise overview of what is possible and available.
This is where a new web site ‘Save & Generate’ sets out to help. The site was launched in March 2010 and offers a unique resource of information, guidance, easy access to equipment and installers, but also first-hand consumer experiences all around the topic of energy efficiency and renewable energy generation.
“Our vision is for this web site to develop into a dynamic platform for all types of user groups”, says environmental consultant and co-founder Michael Söldner. “In a way even our approach could be seen as sustainable, since the experiences from users are fed back into the web site following their use of the featured technologies.”
The sustainable generation and use of energy is one of the key challenges of our time. In the UK the Government has set out key targets and ways to achieve these as part of a wider energy strategy.
Improvements in energy efficiency and wider uptake of renewable energy generation technologies on a local level are two fundamental pillars of this strategy.
The new web site www.saveandgenerate.com sets out to make the uptake of sustainable energy practices and technologies as easy as possible for a wide range of UK customers.
Highlights of the site, include:
* Free web-based energy efficiency and small renewable energy generation systems information provision for domestic & SME.
* Free quote finding system. Using database of all UK installers. Web site takes the customer key information and sends it to all the installers operating locally. Easy route to multiple quotes for users.
* All products and installers can be customer rated via the simple feedback system on the site. Rated products and installers give reassurance to customers
* Independent information, simple intuitive design
* Free online calculators & feasibility studies telling the customer what is applicable where.
* Interactive maps showing installer location, case study location and resource data (wind speed, solar irradiance)
“The site provides easily accessible information for customers and installers alike who are interested in increasing energy efficiency and/or generating their own green energy,” says Roger Hollies microgeneration specialist and also co-founder of the website. “We offer information, feasibility studies, customer generated ratings on products and installers and finally a quotes service where people can link to all the installers working in their area.
“It helps maintain quality for the customer, by rewarding good practice across the sector, whilst accelerating the market to achieve its potential.”
