"Meadow Anywhere" seed pack from Hillier

Hillier Nurseries are offering a seed mix of stunning native wildflowers and grasses especially selected by experts as part of their Natural Choice range.

It might be impossible to replace a medieval meadow overnight, but this seed mix will help create a lovely miniature version of something similar for borders, patios, planters and roofs.

All the species in this diverse mix are native to the UK and have a guaranteed UK provenance. It includes grasses, important as food plants for butterflies and moths, and wildflowers selected to provide nectar and pollen from spring to September. The mix also has poppies and cornflowers for a burst of colour in the first year.

The packets are a super-sized 10g (c.1000 seeds), which will cover 2.5 square metres, and come with easy to follow instructions for establishment and maintenance.

The product has been developed with Habitat Aid, a social enterprise promoting conservation charities and British plants and 50p from every sale goes to Butterfly Conservation and 50p to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust,.

The mix will feature in Hillier’s Chelsea garden, and will be the first of a range of “meadow anywhere” products. Packets are available for sale at Hillier’s garden centres, online and by mail order from early March.
