Fulham Football Club has signed up to a carbon-neutral hosting programme that will allow it to cut carbon emissions from its IT systems.
The programme, which allows companies to cut carbon emissions and offset the rest, can lower CO2 emissions to net zero.
Attenda, which has launched the programme, is the first UK Managed Services Company to have achieved carbon neutral status accredited by the CarbonNeutral Company. The hosting scheme is a UK first and a number of businesses, including easyCar.com, Ark Workplace Risk, TM Group, White Stuff and iWantGreatCare.org have signed up already.
The CarbonNeutral Company is recognised as the leading quality standard for carbon emissions in business. To be accredited carbon emissions must be reduced to net zero – meaning all emissions must be offset.
Mark Fowle, CEO of Attenda, said: “The Attenda CarbonNeutral hosting accreditation reflects our leadership position, and strongly complements our other industry accreditations, which will become increasingly important in the future.”
Fowle believes the platform will allow businesses across the UK to reduce their carbon footprint as they focus more on carbon responsibility. He added: “We are expecting to see a large take-up by our client base in the next 18 months, as they continue to evolve their own carbon-neutral strategies.”
Neil Braun, CEO of The CarbonNeutral Company, said: “Not only has Attenda taken responsibility for its own emissions but now they are successfully encouraging managed service clients, such as Fulham Football Club, to reduce their emissions from their ICT. Attenda has created a powerful competitive differentiator by taking the lead in this area.”
Martin Smith, IT Director at easyCar.com, commented: “Not only have Attenda embraced virtualisation to significantly reduce easyCar’s carbon footprint, they have also made it possible for us to offset our remaining carbon footprint with one of the world’s leading carbon management businesses.”
