First Choice has unveiled its new online ‘Greener Holidays’ brochure for summer 2010. Following on from the successful launch of the Greener Holidays e-brochure concept earlier this year, the latest downloadable collection offers an expanded range of 41 properties from across the world, all of which have received a Travelife award for their commitment to the environment, employees and local communities, and features a number of newly awarded properties.
Downloadable from the First Choice website, the inaugural edition of ‘Greener Holidays’ was a first for the mainstream holiday industry in the UK, offering an easy way for holidaymakers to make a more sustainable choice when selecting a summer package holiday, either in-store or online. All the hotels featured in the 2010 brochure meet the specific sustainability criteria of the Travelife system, which focus on people and communities as well as the environment. Properties are found in a range of locations across the globe, from the popular short-haul holiday resorts in the Canaries and Balearics to the faraway destinations of Kenya and the Maldives.
The new edition also includes details on destination activities, including community-related excursions available in some locations, and top tips on what holidaymakers can do to make a difference, both before and during their break. An update on projects supported by the World Care Fund is included. Information is also available on environmental initiatives undertaken on First Choice flights, operated by Thomson Airways, as well as sustainable products offered on board.
First Choice’s customer director Tim Williamson explained: “We were delighted with the interest that the Greener Holidays e-brochure received, which reinforces our belief that there is an increasing demand for more sustainable mainstream holidays.
“Our research shows that customers care about the environmental impact of their holiday, with 60 percent of the population saying they were more likely to book a holiday with a company that displays greener business practices. The Greener Holidays brochure allows these customers to make an informed choice."
